Hello! I’m Justin. I’m a gameplay programmer and musician. I’ve been programming for over 16 years, and in that time I’ve developed many games, apps, services, and tools.

As a musician, I’ve written and recorded music that has reached a global audience as the former lead guitarist and songwriter of Set For The Fall. You can listen to the tracks on practically every music service, including Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, and more.

My love for games started early in life after receiving a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) when I was around 4. I’ve been playing games ever since.

In high school, a friend and I decided to learn how to make our own game, which led me to learn C++ and DirectX to make a simple top-down shooter. After this experience, I knew I would dedicate as much time as possible to programming, and ultimately make it my career; and I did just that.

I’ve gone from writing my own 2D engine to using the most popular engines in the industry today; Unreal Engine and Unity. I’m also interested in the development of Godot as a FOSS alternative.

I am passionate about learning, whether it be new technologies, approaches to solving problems, math, algorithms, or retro console architecture (my favorites being the DMG Gameboy and NES).

I also dedicate as much time as possible to helping others get into programming via popular online education platforms like Treehouse and a few of the largest game development communities like GameDev.tv and GameDevHQ.
